Dominical, located on the southern Pacific coast has the best of what Costa Rica has to offer.  In Dominical the mountains touch the ocean in a true South Pacific paradise.  Dominical is a small town with about 500 residents.  But within Costa Rica it is very popular due to the amenities it has to offer.    Dozens of local restaurants offer typical Costa Rican, American, Italian, French, Thai, Mexican, Sushi and gourmet menus.  Local activities are numerous and include fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, whale watching, zip line canopy tours, quad rental and tours, horseback riding, waterfall tours, hiking, bird watching, rain forest tours surfing and many more.  The beach, for many years was the only beach in Costa Rica that had life guards.  The surfing is world class with what is considered to be the most consistent break in Costa Rica and many competitions are held there.  Not a pro yet? No problem two kilometers south is a beach called Dominicalito.  Dominicalito is a great swimming beach and has smaller waves great for the beginning surfer.  There are many surf schools in Dominical to help every level of surfer advance in their skills.  This small town has remained off the developmental radar until only recently.  This is due to accessibility.  It has been up to a 6 hour drive from San Jose.  The drive now is just over 2 hours from San Jose.  Another way to reach Dominical is by air.  It is a 30 minute flight from San Jose to Palmar by taking one of the two major local airlines, Nature Air or Sansa.  National rent a car can have a car waiting for you at the airport.  It is a beautiful 40 minute drive up the Costanera (coastal highway) to our villa.
