Dominical, Costa Ricais one of the most beautiful places on earth. For those of you who have been fortunate enough to visit Costa Rica but have not made it to Dominical let me tell you what has been going on. For over 20 years a road has been planned from Quepos to Dominical. The 33km is now complete. I made the drive from Quepos to Dominical in 25 minutes at the beginning of August! Two years ago the same drive took me 2 1/2 hours on a single lane dirt road.
This hidden gem is now easily accessible. The Caldera Highway highway recently opened between San Jose and the Pacific. This reduced the total driving time to just over 2 hours. For many living in Dominical this is mixed news. Locals do not want more development that is not properly planned. The good news is Costa Rica's government has passed tougher restrictions. It now takes

Ultimate Vacation Rental
This is the view from the lanai of your vacation rental. Villa Bella Mare is located 2km south of Dominical on the Pacific Ocean. Perched on a hill, it is a 5 minute walk from the beach and 10 minute walk from a refreshing waterfall. You are in a community of 30 similar villas separated by the tropical rain forest. Toucans, monkeys and sloths are the neighbors and can be seen from this patio regularly. Many of the wildlife pictures on this site were taken fro
m right here. Everything you want to do on your vacation is usually within a 20 minute drive from here. The beach below is an excellent swimming and surfing beach. It is never crowded and always inviting. It is also great for a morning walk or run. Evenings here are divine. The sound of the waves on the beach below and the and the lights in the distance are soothing after a day of excitement. The temperature drops from the upper 80's to the lower 60's. In the Green Season (July-November) there is usually rain in the afternoon or early evening. Where I am from in Florida, we have bugs. Biting bugs. It is still difficult for me to accept that here, in a rain forest, I can sit on the balcony, at night and not get bitten. The rain forest is balanced. Predators such as bats and birds keep bugs to a bare minimum here.
